Board & Train FAQ

Our Board & Train programs are designed to support your training goals and accommodate your dog's individual needs. Your dog will stay with one of our trainers in their home, giving us the opportunity to live, train and troubleshoot with your dog in a real life home setting over a period of days to weeks. Your dog will receive daily training sessions geared toward your goals, incidental training throughout the entire day practicing good household manners, enrichment activities, structured play and group training for social dogs, and public training outings when applicable. They will also get plenty of opportunities to play with toys, gnaw on chews, cuddle on the couch, or whatever their favorite activities are!

Your dog is sure to learn a lot during their stay with us, but it is important to note that a Board & Train is a jump start in behavior modification. In order for any changes in behavior to transfer, reinforcement must continue once your dog is back home with you. For every 7 days that your dog spends with us, you will receive 1 Transfer Lesson in your home to go over how you can maintain and continue building the behaviors you want to see more of from your dog. You might benefit from a Board & Train if:

you want a boost in your dogs training plan
you have a trip planned and want your dog learning and practicing good behaviors
your dog requires more specialized care or is not comfortable in traditional boarding environments
you need a break from the demands of potty training your puppy (you will thank us for the full nights of sleep!)
you have family coming to stay with you and your dog is nervous, anxious, reactive or rambunctious around them
you have renovations being done at your home
you have a baby on the way and want a worry free transition bringing them home

All dogs are required to pass a Trial Day in your trainer's home prior to confirming a Board & Train.

Trial Days are $110 per dog.

Once your dates are confirmed, a 50% deposit will be required to hold your spot.

Puppy Board & Train: $2660 / 2 weeks $190 / day

For puppies 12 months and younger.

This program will focus on teaching

Good household manners
House training
Crate training
Ability to settle around the house & behind barriers
Finding the right things to chew on
Positive introductions to novel stimuli
Building a positive relationship with grooming and handling needs
Fostering opportunities to practice self soothing
Encourage interest in toy play and incorporate impulse control exercises
Introducing and building responsiveness to name, sit, down, touch, drop it
Once your puppy has completed their vaccine boosters, we may take field trips into the world to start building engagement and learning around new places and distractions.

Starting with Private Lessons before your puppies stay can also help get a jump start on the building blocks and generally allow for a faster progression during their stay with us.

Adult Board & Train: $2380 / 2 weeks $170 / day

For dogs 1 year and older.

This program is highly customizable. In general we will be working on

Good household manners
Polite greetings and calm interactions with people and dogs in the home
Building and generalizing skills such as sit, down, touch, wait, drop it, leave it
Recall from distractions
Loose leash walking
Managing arousal and encouraging self soothing
Taking field trips to gain experience training in a variety of settings

and anything else you need help with!

We encourage picking 1-3 main areas of focus for your dog's stay. Your trainer can help determine what those might be after your dog's Trial Day. Starting with Private Lessons before your dogs stay can also help get a jump start on the building blocks and generally allow for a faster progression during their stay with us.

Behavior Board & Train: $2800 / 2 weeks $200 / day

For dogs 1 year and older.

This program is for dogs who need help with more severe behaviors such as reactivity, resource guarding, stranger danger, or fears & phobias that may require extra precautions for ensuring they have a safe stay with us. Training plans will be entirely customized to your dogs needs.

Field trips may be utilized to expand your dogs world a little further, and give them the opportunity to work with neutral triggers.

We encourage picking 1-3 main areas of focus for your dog's stay. Your trainer can help determine what those might be after your dog's Trial Day. For Behavior Board & Trains, we highly recommend starting with Private Lessons before your dogs stay. This can help jump start on the building blocks and generally allow for a faster progression during their stay with us. Continued lessons following your dogs stay are typically recommended for behavioral cases.
